WLDU Committee 2008

With Love, Down Under” (WLDU) started back in the Summer of 2007,with a group of Malaysian students studying in Sydney, who were basically too bored of their summer holidays and thought of filling their time doing some good deeds.

What began with just 5 of us and ended up with 22 dedicated committee members; thanks to the wonders of networking. Meetings were held, phone calls were made and email inboxes were filled to the brim. In the end, committees ranged from all over Australia, New Zealand as well as from Malaysia.

‘With Love, Down Under – Charity Dinner’ was a formal charity dinner that successfully collected funds for the chosen charity, ‘Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Pesakit AIDS/HIV Nurul Iman Malaysia’ (PERNIM) Malaysia’ consisting mostly of orphans and young children who have been neglected by their parents, in order to help support them and sustain their expenses.

Working under Malaysian Students Council of Australia (MASCA), the aim of the event was not only to acquire donations for PERNIM, but also to instill awareness to the public on the lives of children living with AIDS / HIV as well as those with unconventional family backgrounds.

Thanks to each and everyones dedication, the kind voluntary performers (Yamud,Redzuan & Elisha, Otam, Aizat AF & D’Amdans, Ramalama Bang Bang by Sek. Seri Puteri,Rozita Rohaizad, Estrella, Waheeda) & various generous donations, WLDU managed to donate a total of RM 32,255.80 to PERNIM last two years. Not just that, WLDU has now become a family of friends, always looking forward for more ways to contribute to the society.

We welcome anyone who is interested to join us for this year’s event!
